Bio

Skeet Ulrich was born on the January 20th, 1969. (Some reports list it as 1970; if I am given official word on which year is correct, I will post it here.) Though his given name was Bryan Ray, he was given the nickname Skeeter by a baseball coach who thought he was a skinny little mosquito. Skeet had some hard times in his youth. His parents divorced when he was three and he moved around a lot until his mother remarried when he was nine. He had always been a sickly child and after getting pneumonia several times, doctors finally discovered that he had a heart defect. At the age of ten, Skeet found himself having open-heart surgery.

Though still a skinny kid, Skeet started to get involved with sports. Besides playing baseball, he also became proficient on the soccer field. He was so good at that sport, in fact, that he was going to be offered a college scholarship. However, when he lost his temper at a game in front of the college scouts, the scholarship disappeared.

Still, Ulrich managed to get into the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, studying marine biology. He did some extra work in films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and, catching the acting bug, he sought ought a teacher. The guy he found, the owner of a local deli and an erstwhile actor, wasn't exactly Lee Strasberg. Skeet tells a funny story about the guy giving him a book of facial expressions to study. Having mastered "happy," "scared," "angry," and "thoughtful," Ulrich changed his major over to theater.

Throwing himself into his dramatic studies, Skeet transferred to NYU, where he ended up being asked by David Mamet to join his Atlantic Theater Company. He spent five years doing plays in New York and in 1994 landed his first TV gig in an ABC After School Special. The director, Stacy Cochran, later cast him with Winona Ryder in Boys.

Frequently-Asked-Questions

1.) Does this site have any actual contact with Skeet Ulrich?

Not currently. At this time, it's just a fan site. But if that changes, you'll find out here first.

2.) What is your picture/scanned article use policy?

As you can see, I've taken many screencaps and scanned many pictures and articles myself. You will not, at the publishing of this website, be able to find many of these pictures anywhere else on the net. It took me several months of work to put this site together, with all the screencapping (now known as "skeetcapping" ::wink::) and scanning I had to do. Therefore, I would get very cranky if someone spent a few hours stealing all the photos and then used them to make their own Skeet Ulrich site. Please don't do that. I'll sick my army of trained skeeters on ya. (The only site I have given permission to use all the pictures they want is the new SkeetUlrich.Net; I sold the domain to them.) However, if you would like to take pictures for your own personal use, that's fine. If you want to take a few pics to make a small Skeet Ulrich site, a site dedicated to one specific movie, or the like, that is fine, as long as you give skeet.dementedstuff.com credit and a link. Please have the courtesy to give noticeable credit where credit is due. That way, people know where to come to find even more Skeet goodies. Also, if you use these pictures on another site, do not watermark/tag them (that's where you put your own tag or other identifying graphic/signature somewhere on the picture). I do not believe in watermarking these sorts of things. Please respect this wish. If you use the pictures to make wallpapers, fanart, and other creations, I'd love to see them and offer them on this site.

Under no circumstances should you use any of the graphics that give this site its own unique look - the side navigation buttons and top logos. Please create your own graphics. Your site will be more memorable that way. :)

If you do use any pictures, DO NOT link directly to them on my server. Hotlinking has been disabled across my entire site, so that won't even work. Please don't be a bandwidth thief - save photos onto your own computer and upload them to your own server. Photobucket (www.photobucket.com) is a very nice one of many for hosting pictures to use elsewhere.

3). What last name was Skeet born with?

Trout. Bryan Ray Trout.

4). Why aren't some of the other Skeet Ulrich sites from the late 1990's maintained anymore?

Lazy, shiftless webmasters. Seriously, I don't know.

5). What happened to Miracles? It was such an awesome show!

Certain bigwigs at ABC didn't like the tone of the show and so had it cancelled, despite decent ratings. :( The first season was broadcast in its entirety in some foreign countries. These 13 episodes are now available on DVD.

6). How often will you put up new pictures and screencaps?

As often as I can. Real Life gets in the way of these fannish endeavors. That deserves another pouty face. :(

7). What are the names of Skeet's children?

His son's name is Jakob Dylan and his daughter's name is Naiia Rose.

8). How much time do you put into this site?

Even my best friend called this site "obsessive," so I figured it was time to answer this question, heheh. I worked on this site for months before I was able to launch it. Screencaps take a lot more time than you might think. So does scanning. But a site becomes far more manageable once you have the basic skeleton done. Why do I do it? The main reason is not because I think Skeet Ulrich is a great, underrated actor who is very handsome. It's because being creative is my lifeblood. A website is a great outlet for creativity. Naturally, I want the site to be good, and I want you, the visitor and Skeet fan, to leave satisfied. One thing that bugs the heck out of me about the internet is a site with no content, where you go for lots of pictures of a celebrity you like, and come away with little to nothing. I want you to visit the photo pages and find every possible picture you can think of there.
